How to draw a realistic seahorse
How to draw a realistic seahorse
step-1
GRID STEP. You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps.
1) Draw a rectangle that will define the conditional proportions and boundaries of the chosen drawing. 2) From the middle of the rectangle, draw one vertical and one horizontal line equally dividing the shape. 3) Draw another horizontal line equally dividing the upper half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a horizontal line equally dividing the bottom half of the rectangle. 4) Draw a vertical line equally dividing the left half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a vertical line equally dividing the right half of the rectangle.
step-2
STEP 1. Mark off the width and height of the picture. Draw two ovals for the head and body of the seahorse. Draw a smooth guideline for its long snout.
step-3
STEP 2. Add smooth guidelines for the neck and tail rings.
step-4
STEP 3. Outline shapes of the snout, body and tail.
step-5
STEP 4. Define an eye of the seahorse with a circle, and its fins.
step-6
STEP 5. Add the lower part of the snout. Draw lines to indicate the shape of the dorsal fin. Sketch the general shape of a coronet and tail rings.
step-7
STEP 6. Delineate more carefully the head, body rings, eye and fins.
step-8
STEP 7. Work on the whole figure, paying special attention to details.
step-9
STEP 8. Contour the seahorse, trying to vary the thickness and blackness of the line. Add the sea, ground and bubbles. Erase all guidelines.
